Hartog Vegt was a son of Mozes Vegt and Rebecca de Leeuwe. He married Jetta Johanna van Geens in Zwolle on February 20, 1912. The marriage was annulled. Hartog Vegt remarried.
A son from the first marriage survived the war by attending a catholic school and using a false name.
