Prior to his deportation Max Karpe lived at 33 Zoomstraat in Amsterdam. He was a professional musician. In late December 1942 he was deported to Vught concentration camp via the house of detention on the Amstelveenseweg. Several valuable items of jewelry and a silver-plated trumpet were stolen from Max Karpe at the various places where he was imprisoned.
The archive of the Stichting Sieraden-Comité contains a list of stolen items of jewelry and a statement taken under oath from 1970.
