Salomo Gerhard Tekla Bendien studied medicine in Amsterdam, where he sat for his medical finals on 30 June 1899. He lived in the Finspongpark in Zeist and practised medicine in the Heerenlaan. Bendien was famous in the thirties as a cancer therapist. A famous study by him was 'Veränderungen des Blutserums, ein Beitrag zur serologischen Diagnose von Krebs und Tuberkulose' (Jena 1931).
