Raoul Coëlho was married. He and his wife had one child. The family lived in The Hague, where Raoul Coëlho was a bookseller. He distributed underground newspapers and was arrested for this activity in The Hague on 13 July 1942. Raoul Coëlho was deported via the prison in Scheveningen and the camp at Amersfoort to Mauthausen, where he was killed at age 35.
