Hermann Hijman Cohen studied medicine in Leiden, where he sat for his medical finals in 8 July 1915. He specialised as KNO-(ear, nose and throat) specialist. He practised at the Bezuidenhout in The Hague. Hermann Hijman Cohen died in a concentration camp.

Hermann Hijman Cohen was the son of Louis Samuel Cohen and Clara van Dam. On 24 October 1919 he got married to Maria Cornelia Alida van der Linden in Singapore.
