Joël Hamme was deported to Sobibor in June 1943 from Vught via Westerbork on the so-called children's transport. He was 13 when he died.

In September 1941 Joël Hamme was enrolled in Grade 1 of the municipal commercial secondary school in The Hague. In October 1941 Joël Hamme had to transfer to Grade 2a of the Joods Lyceum.
