Gerrit Coezijn was a son of Philip Coezijn and Vrouwtje Poppegaai. He married Betje Kesner in Amsterdam on 14 September 1938.
Other than he himrself, six other siblings did not survive the Holocaust too: Rosette, Jacobus, Sara, Hijman, Eva and Judith.
