Sara Gans was a daughter of Elias Gans and Mijntje Schuit. She married Hijman Joel Denneboom on 5 December 1928 in Amsterdam, a son of Levi Denneboom and Saartje Slager. Sara and Hijman had two children: on 12 October 1929 Levie was born and on 8 December 1931 Elias. Both children have been killed in Auschwitz on 22 May 1944, together with their mother Sara Gans and their half-sister Mijntje Brameijer.
The marriage of Sara Gans and Hijman Joel Denneboom has ended in a divorce, by verdict of the District Court of Amsterdam on 30 January 1933 and registered in the Civil Registry of Amsterdam on 20 June 1933. (certificate Reg.7G-folio38). Hijman Joel Denneboom remarried a non-Jewish woman in 1935 and eventually he has survived the Holocaust.
After her divorce, Sara moved with her sons Levie and Elias to Czaar Peterstraat 39 I-left. There lived also Hendrik Brameijer, who's wife had passed already in 1928. Sara and Hendrik were cohabiting there, unmarried and she had with him a daughter on 5 January 1937, named Mijntje. On 10 May 1937 she was officially legalized by her father, reason why she received the familyname Brameijer. On 20 April 1941 Sara Gans, her children Levie and Elias Denneboom and Mijntje Brameijer, together with her father Hendrik Brameijer, were registered at the address Rapenburg 39 II in Amsterdam.
Sara Gans was still registered in 1941 as Sara Denneboom-Gans, after her first husband, from whom she already officially has been divorced in 1933. Also her certificate of death, made out in 1950 shows "the last time married to Denneboom, Hijman Joel, etc.etc...." In principal, Sara should be mentioned and listed again only with her maiden name since her divorce.
