Salomon Arpels was a son of Pinehas Arpels and Sientje Vijevano. He married Rebecca Polak on 29 December 1915 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Mozes Polak and Mietje Velleman. The couple had three children: two of them have survived the Holocaust however, their daughter Mietje has been killed in Auschwitz on 10 September 1942. Also Salomon and his wife were killed there at the same day; they were sent previously to Westerbork where they have been registered the 5th of September and a few days later, on 7 September 1942 deported from there to Auschwitz.
Salomon Arpels had another brother Izak, who was married to the sister of his wife Rebecca. Her name was Regina; she married his brother Izak in January 1917 and in October 1917 their son Pierre was born. Since 1921 he lived alone with his mother in Amsterdam because Izak has left his family and went to Antwerp, where he cohabited with a non-Jewish woman. But also Izak was killed in Auschwitz: he was deported on 19 July 1943 from Mechelen to Auschwitz with Convoy XXI and presumably immediately killed upon arrival on 21 July 1943.
