Sara de Leeuwe was a daughter of Isaac de Leeuwe and Antje Blik. She married 14 December 1916 in Amsterdam the diamond polisher Meijer Sigaar, a son of Philip Sigaar and Mietje de Leeuwe. The couple had three children, namely Martha in 1917, Isidoor in 1919 and Adelina in 1921. All three the children were killed in the Shoah.
The family lived at Transvaalstraat 82 II in Amsterdam. The Civil Registry reveal that Meijer Sigaar has passed away in Amsterdam 29 April 1943. On the other hand his wife Sara de Leeuwe was already deported to Camp Westerbork 18 November 1942 and put on transport 30 November 1942 to Auschwitz, the so called “Kattenburg transport”. This transport included 826 persons, of which 367 Jewish employees of the Amsterdam clothing factory Hollandia Kattenburg. Upon arrival in Auschwitz, Sara Sigaar-de Leeuwe has been immediately killed 3 December 1942 .
