Sophia Sara van Witsen, born in 1879 in Rotterdam was a daughter of Salomon van Witsen and Rosetta Roos. 9 April 1930 she became the 4th spouse of Jules Joël, who previously widowed already three times. After their marriage in 1930, their address was Pretorialaan 21 b in Rotterdam. Sophia's husband was a dealer in gents clothing. He passed away in 1942 in Rotterdam and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery Toepad in Rotterdam.
Sophia Sara was brought in Camp Westerbork 10 April 1943 and stayed in barack 73. 4 May she was deported to Sobibor and upon arrival there 7 May 1943 immediately killed.
