Sara Beek was the youngest of the seven children of Izaak Leon Beek and Matje Mok. She was unmarried and worked as office clerk. Since 1929 she lived at Noorder Amstellaan 60 3rd stock in Amsterdam-South (after the war renamed as Churchilllaan), but up from 23 May 1940 she lived at Cornelis Schuytstraat 47 upperhouse, moved even in 1940 to Breugelstraat and Hemonylaan, in 1941 to Reguliersgracht and Weteringschans, to end 5 May 1942 at Plantage Middenlaan 14 2nd floor in Amsterdam.
Sara Beek was exempted from deportation “because of function”. (“Gesperrt”). Since 23 July 1942 she was exempted for the time being because she had a job at the Jewish Council at Nieuwe Keizersgracht 58 as shorthand typist Dutch and German language. She possessed diploma’s of commercial education through evening classes, English language, accounting and domestic economics.
Presumably early April 1943, Sara was taken from Amsterdam to concentration camp Vught, where also 13 April 1943 her luggage arrived. This camp was opened 13 January 1943 but just partly build ; the first who arrived were emaciated prisoners from Camp Amersfoort. They and other prisoners had to finish the camp themselves.
The registration cards of Sara Beek show also that she had sent a letter on 21 April 1943 from her barrack 31a in Vught to Amsterdam. It is unknown however to whom this letter was sent and whether the letter has been preserved.
From early or half April till 8 June 1943 Sara stayed in Vught in barrack 31a On 8 June the so-called children transport left Vught for Westerbork and Sobibor. Also Sara Beek has been deported that same date. On arrival in Sobibor on 11 June 1943, all children, their supervisors as also Sara Beek were immediately murdered.
