Joseph van Creveld, born 14 April 1879, was a son of Jacob van Creveld and Sophia Foks. He married 29 March 1905 in Rotterdam the non-Jewish Neeltje van Bloppoel from Heinekenszand, born 23 November 1875. She was a daughter of Cornelis van Bloppoel and Cornelia van Pienbroek. The couple had five children, namely Jacob Joseph, Philip Cornelis, Leo, Albert and Willem, who all have survived the war.
Joseph was born into a family with five children. His sister Sara, who was born in 1880, survived the Holocaust and passed away in 1964. His sister Rosetta from 1881 died already in 1900 and his brother Levij, who was born in 1883, passed in 1931. Only his brother Philip Jacob van Creveld, his wife Roosje David and all their children with their families were killed during the Shoah.
Joseph van Creveld was a cattle trader. In 1932 he lodged with is wife in the Goudschestraat 31b, moved two months later in December 1932 to the Willem van Zuijlenstraat 13a, after which again moves followed, till they arrived in June 1937 in a house at the Vredenoordkade 6b in de Kralingen-Crooswijk district of Rotterdam.
Joseph van Creveld was mixed married. In the file cabinet of the Jewish Council, no registration card of him was foundable. He passed away on 24 April 1944 in Rotterdam. His spouse on 20 February 1960, also in Rotterdam.
