Mozes Bleekveld, a son of Samuel Bleekveld and Ester Nekelsburg, married 19 January 1898 in Amsterdam Heintje Cohen, a daughter of Marcus Cohen and Sara Dresden. They had three children, namely Esther in 1900, Marcus in 1901 and Sara in 1903.
Mozes, who was a greengrocer by profession, and his wife Heintje lived after they were wed at Bethaniënstraat 14 near Kloveniersburgwal, moved in December 1898 to Uilenburgerstraat and to Jodenbreestraat, where they have lived in several houses. In 1924 they came to live at the Vrolikstraat 279 in East Amsterdam, moved in 1932 to house nr. 321 where they have lived until their deportation in April 1943.
From notes on the registration card of Mozes Bleekveld of the Jewish Council is to read that he has been sent to “labour camp Westhoven” per 2 October 1942. It is known that in the province of Zeeland a castle is named Westhoven, near Domburg, which suffered the heavy bombardments of the allies in 1944. Certain is that it has not belonged to the Jewish Labour camps in the Northern Netherlands, but Mozes Bleekveld obviously has worked in Westhoven as a forced labourer.
On 20 April Mozes and his wife Heintje were registered in Westerbork, Mozes ended up in barrack 70 and Heintje in 85. On 27 April both have been deported to Sobibor where on arrival there on 30 April 1943, they were immediately murdered in the gas chambers.
