Sarah Levie was born in Hamburg on January 14, 1880 as the first daughter of Tanchum (Theodor) Levie from Groningen and Hannah Ricardo Rocamora from Hamburg. Sarah was an English teacher and taught at the Berlitz school at Keizersgracht 300 in Amsterdam. Her sister was Lea and she had three brothers, Jon, Iwan and Abraham.
Sarah was married and divorced from John Edward Eastwood, usually called Jack. It is unclear whether Jack Eastwood came to the Netherlands in 1916 too, or whether Sarah had already divorced him or whether she had perhaps already become his widow.
From the Amsterdam Register of Foreigners and the family registration cards it can be deduced that Sarah stayed in Amsterdam as of: 11- December 1916 at Prinsengracht 439 in a Home for Women; as of 29 April 1918 at Prinsengracht 470 with Lateroen, as of 22 July 1918 at Van Baerlestraat 81 with Bromberg; at 28 March 1919 at Dusartstraat 17 again with Bromberg; as of 17 September 1919 at Valeriusstraat 174, (see family registration card of J.E. Eastwood).
On 27 April 1921 Sarah went again to the Home for Women at Prinsengracht 439. (family registration card J.E. Eastwood). And on 4 February 1924 she has been officially deregistered from the Amsterdam Registers. (Register of Foreigners), probably to Hilversum, where she passed away on 24 November 1930.
