Joel Abraham Nijstad was the son of the merchant Abraham Nijstad and Lena Koopman. He was married to Frederika Nijstad-Mildenberg. The couple lived at 191 Stedeke in Diepenheim. On 19 April 1943 Joel Abraham Nijstad died at Vught concentration camp.
