On 4 May 1932, the association 'Ezer Jatom' opened a Jewish orphanage in the Pletterijstraat 66 in The Hague. On 6 March 1943, the Nazis rounded up the children and staff from the orphanage. Among them were many young German refugees like Ernst Spicker.
