I recently translated the Gernab correspondance between Aunt Sofie's niece, Rita Klein-Jacob (my aunt) in Berlin, circa 1938-1941 and her lover, already in England. In the correspondence I learned that Tante Sofie was a go-between between Aunt Rita and everyone elsse in the outside world (Switzerland, England) and she transmitted addresses and information. She was selfless and a heroine.

Widow Sofie May-Rechnitz and her family

Sofie Rechnitz married Abraham May in 1917 in Amsterdam. He passed away in 1939 in Haarlem. They had two children.
