David Maurits Smalhout was deported to Sobibor in June 1943 from Vught via Westerbork on the so-called children's transport. He was 8 years old when he died.

In 1865 trouwde koopman Hartog Mozes Nias in Amsterdam met Fanny Berlijn. Hartog woonde in Alkmaar en Fanny kwam uit Utrecht en was relatief kort in Amsterdam neergestreken. Beide vaders waren overleden, de moeders woonden in Amsterdam. Het voorgenomen huwelijk was twee keer afgekondigd, zoals dat in die tijd gebruikelijk was.
