About Jetje Reijs-Reindorp

Jetje Reindorp was a daughter of Benedictus Reindorp and Betje Frank. She married in Amsterdam on 13 May 1903 Isaac Reijs, son of Joseph Reijs and Hendrika Fransman. The couple had seven children, among four of them who did not survive the Holocaust: Bertha, Susan Samson, Herman and Jetje. Isaac Reijs passed asway in Antwerp in 1925.

Voor Jetje Reijs-Reinsdorp en familie die nooit meer terugkwam

Er werd nooit gesproken over wat er was gebeurd
er werd vooral gezwegen, in stilte werd getreurd.
De heftige gesprekken herinner ik mij zeer
spanning altijd voelbaar, een unheimische sfeer.

Ik heb het nooit begrepen en vragen was taboe
daarom deed ik als kind er ook het zwijgen toe.
