Siegmond Lievendag was married to Emma Meier. The couple had two children, Johan (known as Hansje) and Selma Henriëtte (known as Selma). The family lived in Hengelo.

A former neighbor recalls that Siegmond (Simon) Lievendag had to report himself at Kesteren. Some time later 'auntie' Emma, Hans and Selma were taken from their home in the middle of the night. The next day, all the locks of the house were sealed. The furniture was gathered in the back bedroom. A few days later the furniture was collected by people who acted on behalf of the Germans.
