Izak Kalker and his family

Izak Kalker and Maria van Blijdestijn had four children: Mozes Levie, also known as Mopie, Antje Jeannette, also known as Annie, and two others, who survived the war. The family lived in Ophemert, where Isaac had a butcher’s shop on Waalbandijk.
The mayor of Ophemert tried in vain to protect the family from deportation. In 1943 the entire family was transported to Camp Vught. Two children were put to work at the Philips Kommando and so could stay in the Netherlands longer. Izak, Maria, Mopie and Annie were transferred to Westerbork and deported to Sobibor from there.
