Jacob Grobfeld was married to Marianne Adelheid Paula Kannegieter. He was a travelling salesman and a warehouse clerk. The couple lived at 84 Hoofdkade in Ter Apel. They had three children, Jopie, Eddie and Ineke. Their son Eddie was circumcised by H.S. Frank, a mohel from Groningen, on 14 April 1937. Jacob Grobfeld surrendered a bicycle in Ter Apel during the Nazi occupation.
