Barend Velleman and his family

Barend Velleman and his family went into hiding in Nijmegen, using the name De Bruin.
They most likely had contacts there through the brother of Isabella Gotlieb, Herman, who lived in Nijmegen but was killed in Auschwitz in September 1942. The couple Velleman-Gotlieb was in Nijmegen around March 1943. Their son Arno, who had adopted the name Wim de Bruin, joined them a bit later. Because their hosts were expecting a child on the Hindestraat, they were brought to the Wolfkuilseweg around New Year's Eve 1943 for safety reasons. Because of treason they were arrested there on 6 April 1944 at 10.45.
