Emanuel van Rhijn (nickname Mannie) was married to Jansje van Dien, daughter of David van Dien and Roosje de Winter. The couple had a daughter: Eva Roosje van Rhijn. Originally, they lived in Deventer. In 1937, they moved to Alphen aan den Rijn, where they settled in the Hooftstraat 73.
In July 1942, the family was forced to leave their home. They moved in with the parents of Jansje at 13 Stationsstraat. When that house was confiscated in August 1942, they moved to 62 Van Manderloostraat. From there, they were picked up on 30 September 1942 and deported via Westerbork.
Before her marriage, Jansje van Rhijn-van Dien ran a chemist shop together with her sister Judith van Dien at Van Manderloostraat in Alphen aan den Rijn.
