Ilse Brüll fled from Innsbruck (Austria) to the Netherlands in 1939 on a children's transport. She travelled with a niece. Isle was first given shelter at the convent of St. Jacobusheim in Eersel and later at Hekellaan 6 in Den Bosch. This was the headquarters of the RK Huisvestingscommité voor Vluchtelingen (Roman Catholic Refugee Housing Committee). In August 1942 Ilse Brüll was discovered and arrested, and then transported to Westerbork. Her parents and niece survived the war.
