Salomon (Sallie) Waterman was a son of Alexander Waterman and Marianne van Velzen, a family with five children. His father Alexander passed away on 3 January 1937 and his mother Marianne survived the Holocaust. His brother Abraham and he himself did not survive the war. His siblings Isidor, Emanuel and Schoontje however did survive too.
Salomon married in Amsterdam on 19 May 1937 to Clara Polak, daughter of Aron Polak and Esther Bierschenk.
