Ernest Julius Cohen was a Dutch chemist noted for his extensive work on the allotropy of metals, particularly tin, and for his research in piezochemistry and electrochemical thermodynamics.

On 6 February 1943 Ernest Julius Cohen was arrested and taken to Vught. At the intercession of several professors of the University of Utrecht he was released again after several weeks. Ernest Julius Cohen died on the 6th of March 1944 in Auschwitz.
