Simon Mouwes was a son of David Jochem Mouwes and Sara van der Woude. He married 19 August 1909 in Amsterdam Elisabeth Tertaas, a daughter of Mozes Tertaas and Rebecca Leeda.
The couple had two children: David and the still unmarried and at home living Mozes.
