Mozes Lakmaker was detained in Amsterdam by an official of the Devisenschutz Kommando Holland for violating the 1941 currency decree and fled during his transfer to the place of interrogation. Mozes Lakmaker was described as a 'non-Aryan.' He lived at 11 Muiderstraat, fourth floor, in Amsterdam.
At the time of his escape Mozes did not have an identification card or other identity papers on him, nor did he have money with him. Identifying characteristics: '5'5" to 5'7" tall, slim build, pale complexion, black hair, heavy black eyebrows; wearing a blue suit and an English shirt with a fixed collar and no necktie.'
