Emanuel Vrachtdoender was a son of Nathan Vrachtdoender and Mietje van West. He married Mina Blitz in Amsterdam on 8 November 1922. The couple had three children, of whom two have survived the Holocaust. Their daughter Louise, born in December 1935 and before the parents got divorced on 19 June 1936, adopted the maiden name of her mother: Blitz.
After being divorced from Mina Blitz, Emanuel Vrachtdoender did not marry again.
