Betje Lootsteen was a daughter of Mozes Lootsteen and Katje Jas. Her parents have passed away before the war.
Betje was born in a family with in total nine children: she self, Esther, Mietje, Abraham, Sander and Aaltje. They all have been killed during the Holocaust.
She had also two other brothers, who have died before the war and a sister, of whom nothing is known so far since 1934.
Betje Lootsteen was a charwoman and a lady-vendor at the streetmarket at the Amsterdam Lindengracht and Westerstraat, selling "flannels" on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
She was unmarried.
