Maurits Schenk was a son of Joseph Levie Schenk and Aaltje Rubens, a family of four children, of whom one son has died only one month old in August 1870. The other siblings of Maurits were Levie and Jette.
After the death in 1876 of Maurits' father, Joseph Levi Schenk, Aaltje Rubens remarried in 1878 to Hendrik Sternfeld, with whom she had again six children, of whom the first born child died only a few moths old. The other children Sternfeld, Maurits' halfbrothers and halfsisters were Benjamin, Sientje, who has died in 1938, Eva, Betje and Jozeph, who died alreay in 1906.
Maurits Schenk married in Enschede on 4 July 1906 to Bertha Levi, daughter of Jacob Levi and Marianne Joseph.
