Willy Adelaar was a commercial agent. At the beginning of the war he was a military man. In a letter (3 September 1945), Hannie Korijn’s brother is quoted, who had said that "in 1944 Willy had seen a chance to send him a clandestine letter from the camp Blechhammer (Upper Silesia) in which he asked to send money so that he could buy bread secretly. Eddy had met this need and knew that both things reached him. He also had spoken with a surviver from the camp Blechhammer who told him that Willy was still alive in January 1945 and in good health. The camp Blechhammer, which was threatened to fall in the hands of the Russians, was then evacuated, that means: the healthy men, to which Willy belonged were taken away by train and the sick, including the informant, had to stay. The camp was then set in fire by the SS, some people were saved. What happened to the transport to which Willy belonged is not known, but probably a few of them have been saved. Willy had written to him in that letter that he had never heard anything from Hannie, his father-in-law and sister-in-law since he had left Westerbork.”
So it is not clear when and where Willy Adelaar has passed away.
