Hartog Sealtiel and Esther Sarphati had another child, Roosje. In 1916 they lived on the Iepenweg 26 I. Hartog was a butcher's assistant and later a fruit vendor. In 1916 he was in military service. Hartog ran a butcher's shop in the Lepelstraat and also traded in chickens. Eventually he had to close his business. In 1924 his brother Israel lived with his family with him. Together the brothers peddled icecream in the summer and fuel in the winter. Around 1932 Hartog traded in fuel together with his brother Jacob. Hartog owned a coal-hold where his wife Esther helped during his absence.
