Kaatje Blok (also known as Cato) was the daughter of Joseph Blok and Naatje Levie de Jong. She married Simon van Dam in 1896. He died in 1934. The couple had two children, who both survived the war. Simon van Dam had previously been married to Frederika de Jong. Sara Gobus- van Dam, mentioned in the obituary in the Joodsche Weekblad, was a daughter from this first marriage.
