Levie Moses Cohen was the son of the butcher Moses Levie Cohen and Jetje Abrahamson. In 1907 he married Bertha Löwenstein, who was also the child of a butcher in Steinbergen (Germany). The couple settled in Finsterwolde (Groningen). Bertha Löwenstein died in Winschoten in 1933.
Levie Moses Cohen got engaged to his much younger housekeeper Aaltje Fogelina Nieweg. They never got married. In 1942 they got deported to Auschwitz, together with his daughter Jenni Cohen and her family. Another child of Levie Moses Cohen survived the war.
