Israel de Levie was a son of Hartog de Levie and Rachel Bloch. He married Johanna Zondervan on 29 June 1916 in Roermond, a daughter of Abraham Zondervan and Rosetta Groonheim. The couple had two daughters: Rosetta and Evalina Clara.

Israel de Levie lived in Roermond from 1916 to 1922. At the end of this period he lived at Burgemeester Geradtsstraat 12. He worked in the registration department of the tax administration. In 1917, his daughter Rosettawas born in Roermond and in 1923 in Amsterdam his daughter Evalina Clara.
