Jacob Bendien was a student. When his papers were checked on a station they were discovered to be forged. When he was brought to Westerbork by train, Jacob Bendien tried to escape but was shot in his leg. From Westerbork, he was deported eastward. He perished somewhere in Central Europe. His parents and sister survived the war by going into hiding. His brother was also deported to Westerbork, he witnessed the liberation of the camp.
