Jacob Vecht was a son of Mozes Vecht and Dina van Hamberg. On 9 February 1910 in Zuidland, he married Sophia Levie, daughter of Nathan Pinas Levie and Sophia Hartogs. The couple had a son, Mozes. The family lived in the Beekstraat in Elburg.
Jacob Vecht was a cattle merchant. His wife Sophia (nickname Fien) rented a villa in Nunspeet in the summer where she received Jewish boarding house guests from the big cities who were looking for kosher holiday accommodation. Their son Mozes (nickname Moos) was a member of the pigeon club.
