About Ernest Armand Lorjé

Ernest Armand Lorjé was the son of Abraham Willem Lorjé and Rosalie Wolf. He was married to Deborah del Valle. They had three children. The family lived in Garderen. Ernest Armand Lorjé was a bookseller. He and his wife helped about one hundred people in hiding. One person in hiding who was caught succumbed during interrogation, and Ernest was arrested in Ommen with two of his children. Deborah Lorjé-del Valle followed her husband and the children. At the station in Amsterdam she tried to let the youngest child escape and was arrested in the process.

Ernest Lorjé and Debora del Valle were known to friends as Ernie and Bob. Debora del Valle had one child from a previous marriage. When the parents were arrested this child mannaged to escape. One other child survived the war by going into hiding.
Addition of a visitor of the website

The mayor of Barneveld requested that Ernest Armand Lorjé be located, detained and brought to trial. He lived in Barneveld and was suspected of having changed his place of residence without the required authorization from 26 October 1942. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. The request also mentioned that Lorjé held a fake or forged identification card.
