Samuel Horwitz was married. He and his wife had a son. The family lived in Amsterdam. Samuel Horwitz was a civil servant (deputy clerk). During the occupation he helped those in hiding. On 28 December 1943 he was arrested in Amsterdam and held at the house of detention on the Amstelveenseweg. He was deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork. Samuel Horwitz's wife and son survived the war.
