Samuel Blitz was a son of Marcus Blitz and Parle da Costa da Fonceca. He married Anna de Swarte in Amsterdam on 19 December 1906, a daughter of Meijer de Swarte and Beletje Voet. The had five children together of whom Hartug probably has survived the was. The other children, Parla, Meijer, Mietje and Tresia are all killed during the Holocaust.
Samuel Blitz and Anna de Swarte divorced on 6 November 1941, after which Samuel remarried on 10 December 1941 Branca Pinto, daugher of Salomon Pinto and Betje Sluijzer. Branca Pinto had in 1934 a son Salomon.
