Elisabeth Levie was a daughter of Salomon Levie and Karolina Gompes. Elisabeth grew up in a family with six children. In 1903 her younger brother died at a young age. On 16 March 1922 Elisabeth Levie married Izaak Julius Aussen. On 20 July 1922 they moved to Zutphen. Shortly afterwards her mother died. During the war her father was remarried.
