Thérèse Zeckendorf was the oldest daughter of Wolf Zeckendorf and Eugenie Pohl. In 1904 she moved from Waalwijk to Rotterdam.

Thérèse Zeckendorf was a teacher at the elementary school at Rusthoflaan 56 in Rotterdam. In 1942, while teaching, she was removed from the classroom by two men in civilian clothing, who probably belonged to the SD and the Dutch police. The headmaster, was present. She said farewell to her class with dignity, saying, ‘Children, I have to go. You may use this time to draw whatever you wish.’ The class was in the middle of a language lesson. A pupil remembers her as ‘a kind teacher, the motherly type, with a round, friendly face, a small pair of glasses and her hair in a bun.’
