Selma van Reeuwijk-Hagens had frequent arguments with her neighbours. After a particularly heated row, a neighbour filed a complaint with the police. Because such incidents could have serious consequences for Jews, police officers came to warn her before officially handling the complaint. Selma said that she was not afraid. A few days later she was picked up by the Rotterdam Sicherheitspolizei, who did not hesitate to send her to Auschwitz.
