Hartog Mooij, son of Salomon Mozes Mooij and Mina Cohen, was the widower of the daughter of Markus van Spier and Saartje Levie, Leentje van Spier (1876-1937) to whom he was married on 13 November 1899 in Culemborg. Together, they had ten children, of which three sons died in childhood and a daughter passed away, aged 29. Their daughters Mina and Rebecca lived with their father. The other children were Salomon Mozes, Saartje, Frederika and Sophia.
