He was a medical student and a son of draper Abraham Kats and Estella Elisabeth Maurice Minco, (deceased). She was a daughter of sales representative Louis Goudsmit and Marianne Springer. The parents of the bride attended the marriage ceremony; they signed the marriage certificate.
