Salomon Barber was a son of Manus Barber and Flora van Velzen. He married 3 May 1939 in Amsterdam to Golda Lewinson, a daughter of Alter Lewinson (born in Zelva, Russia) and Sima Udler from Odessa. The couple had one child: Alfred.
Salomon Barber was born in a family of elven children; one brother died at young age and one sister survived the war. His other siblings, Meijer, Judic, Sientje, Elisabeth, Marianne, Sara, Frederika and Isaac have been killed all during the Holocaust.
