Willy Elia Levin was the son of Abram Adolph Levin. In the 1930's he lived alternately in the Netherlands and in France. He married a woman in Haarlem, with whom he had a child. In Augustus 1939 he moved to Antwerp. Two years later he fled to France. He was arrested while playing chess at a cafe terras. His wife and child survived the war.
